celebration of its two hundred year history, the Town has a twelve
month long schedule of events planned to honor its cultural heritage, natural beauty, preservation and revitalization efforts . Following is a calendar of the events that were held in honor of

In October of 2012, the Warrensburgh Historical Society published a full color Bicentennial Calendar which was sent to all of the members of the Society and was available at many shops in Warrensburg and at the Museum of Local History. The calendar consisted of over 80 photos and each day of the year contained items from over 200 years of Warrensburg's history. These calendars are still available at the Museum*

January 1 - December 31 Warrensburg Bicentennial Menu at Lizzie Keays - 89 River St. Every Wednesday Night Dinner & Dessert $18.13 plus tax & tip. Choice of Entrees were: Grilled Eggplant Parm, Chicken Chester or Chicken & Shrimp Jambalaya. Choice of Desserts: Apple and Cranberry Bread Pudding, Adirondack Gold Maple Cheesecake, or Triple Chocolate Ring Cake. All meals served with butter rolls and choice of homemade soup or salad. January 21st - Valentine Post cards were made available. A perfect way to let your friends and relatives out-of-town know about our Bicentennial, and wish them a Happy Valentine's Day! The cards were available at the museum and Historian’s office at 4 for $1.00. If you are out of town, and want to send a Bicentennial Valentine, send $1.00 for each 4 postcards, in a self-addressed stamped envelope (large enough for postcards) to the Warrensburg Historian at PO Box 441, Warrensburg, NY 18885 before February 7th, and I will make sure that they are mailed out the next day so as to arrive back to you by Valentine's Day.

Tuesday, February 12th - This was the actual date of establishment of Warrensburgh as a town. All churches in Warrensburg will rang their bells at 6:00 PM and residents were encouraged to step outside and ring a bell at that time.

February 13th - At the beginning of the Town Board meeting, a short ceremony acknowledged the establishment of Warrensburgh. A proclamation was sent by the Governor’s office and read by Museum Director, Steve Parisi.

February 15th - The Warren County Board of Supervisors recognized the 200th Anniversary of Warrensburg at their Monthly Meeting.

February 17th - 1:00 p.m. - Warrensburgh Museum of Local History opening of Warrensburg's Bicentennial Exhibit. at the Museum which will extended through October. The exhibit included artifacts and photos from the past 200 years. Refreshments were served. Admission Free

February 23rd - The Friends of Richards Library will be sponsored a community event as part of the 2013 Bi-Centennial Celebration. Activities Included: Historical Snowman/Sculpture Contest on Library Yard, Presentation on the History of The Richards Library, a Hi-Lighted Selection of Books related to The Adirondacks or Written by Local Authors, Snacks and Warm Beverages.

March 12th - Actual date of establishment of Warren County. Churches in the county rang their bells at 2:00 PM.

March 15th - Warren County Proclamation Day. Warren County Board of Supervisors met for State and Assembly proclamations; slide presentation and more.

April - Warrensburgh Beautification Inc. and the Warrensburgh Historical Society offered packets of free Morning Glory seeds to all residents and businesses in Warrensburg, with the hope that they would plant them and turn Warrensburg “blue.”

May 17th - Adirondack Brook Trout Fishing – Past and Present. A talk and demonstration given by Mark Brown at the Warrensburgh Museum of Local History

June 12th - Warren County Bicentennial Signature Event Celebration - Started at 10 AM New York State Historian Robert Weibel presented the Bicentennial Address. Bicentennial Town markers were presented.

June 15th - Ceremonial burial of the "Unknown Oddfellows" at the Warrensburg Cemetery at 11:00 AM, was held with a reception and refreshments following at the Warrensburgh Museum of Local History. The two sets of human bones were part of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows ceremonies. When the Chapter folded, they were left behind. It is estimated they are 100-150 years old. Period Music was performed by Courtly Music Unlimited

July 4th - Warrensburgh Day
Sponsored by the Warrensburg Chamber of Commerce. The Parade kicked off at 11 am and continued on to the Recreation Field on Library Avenue. Events held at the field: Brief ceremony and speech by Town Historian World War II Planes Fly Over Box lunch raffle at 1:00 Adirondack Recorder Band Games, Entertainment, demonstrations, vendors. |
July 15th - Warrensburg Tree Dedication or "The Apple Falls Not Far From the Tree" - A dedication was held at the Warrensburg Cemetery where the John Thurman Historical society presented a flowering crab apple tree to the Town of Warrensburg. In 1813 the Town of Warrensburg “fell” out of the Town of Thurman and established a separate government. The site for the planting was at the Order of Odd Fellow burial plot where the Warrensburg Bicentennial Committee had a burial. Following the dedication ceremony, a desseret and beverage reception, hosed by the Warrensburg Historical
Society was held at the Warrens burgh Museum of Local History. |
July 21, 2013, 11a.m. - 4 p.m. Bicentennial
Sponsored by the Warrensburgh Beautification, Inc. This tour featured both public and private buildings and gardens in the Town of Warrensburgh, Warren County, that were built and planted over the past 200 years. In anticipation of the Bicentennial of the Town and County the municipality, businesses and residents restored structures and enhanced landscapes to include the colors and species of plants associated with the Bicentennial of Warren County - the Black-eyed Susan, and the Bicentennial of Warrensburgh, the "Heavenly Blue" Morning Glory. Histories of both the buildings and the gardens were provided to enhance the experience of the tour and its commemoration of the Bicentennial year. Refreshments were offered along the route. |
July 26th - 27th - Smokeaters - Warrensburg Volunteer Fire Company . Fireworks, games, rides, music and food were the weekends fare.

August 3 - Warrensburg Alumni Banquet, Roaring Brook. The speaker gave a talk on 200 years of local schools.

August 11th - Sticky Wicket Croquet Tournament - This annual event was made even more special by the celebration of Warrensburg’s Bicentennial, as it started as an event to bring back memories of an earlier, more gentile time. Sponsored by the Warrensburgh Historical Society.

December 7 & 8, 2013 - Twenty-Fifth Annual Christmas in Warrensburgh, sponsored by the Warrensburgh Beautification, Inc.
This treasured holiday celebration recognized not only its milestone twenty-fifth year, but also commemorated the 200th year anniversary of the County of Warren and the Town of Warrensburgh. Historic buildings hosted events that reflected not only holiday traditions, but customs and beliefs that have been shared by residents for the past 200 years. The kick off of the Bicentennial year, the theme of the 2012 Christmas in Warrensburgh was entitled “Living Off the Land” – which celebrated two hundred years of cultural heritage in the Town of Warrensburgh and the County of Warren. December 31st 11:59 PM – A fond farewell to 2013, and start getting ready for 2014! |
On February 16th the Warrensburgh Historical Society held a book signing at Lizzie Keays Restaurant for the new history book “Warrensburg, New York – 200 Years of People, Places and Events. We had printed 300 copies and by the end of the month,
