Schroon River
Schroon River – a major factor in the development of Warrensburg is noted in a book titled “The Schroon River – A history of an Adirondack Valley and its People.” By Ann Breen Metcalfe. A passage from the book describes it as follows:
“The queen of Schroon River communities, the place that wrested more profits than any other town out of natural resources upstream, was Warrensburg. Shrewd businessmen populated the village throughout the 19th century and turned Warrensburg into the most prosperous community in the southern Adirondacks. Remnants of their work and influence are still visible.”
