Cunningham Retreat - This large building stands at the foot of Library Avenue, opposite Milton Street. Previously operated as a convalescent
nursing home for the elderly, it was recently renovated into apartments. In 1947 Mrs. Ethel Richards (1901-1977) purchased it from Daniel Bishop and continued its operation as "The Cunningham." Afterwards it was known as the Cunningham Retreat and was primarily a nursing home. In 1955 the name was changed to Evergreen Haven. Its final operation was by Maurice and Marilyn Richards.
