This large residence is a significant and contributing resource in the historic district.  The gable-front, Greek Revival  main block was constructed  c.l830  and features  a stone  foundation,  clapboard  siding,  a full-height  entry  porch  with  pediment  and  square  Doric columns.  A rear wing has similar architectural  detailing.  In contrast, during the late-nineteenth  century. a French  Second Empire-style tower and wing was added to the north elevation;  it features decorative  window surrounds,  a bay window on the first story, a dentilated frieze and mansard roof with cresting.  A large late-nineteenth century barn is a contributing resource on the property.

Emerson House is a stately mansion that was originally the residence of the Emerson family. 
A.C. Emerson settled in Warrensburg, New York in the 1830's This spectacular home located at the base of the Adirondack Mountains, was built about 1830.  There are 22 unique rooms in the house.

His sons Louis and James were raised in the house, as was James' son, Albert.  A.C. began his career as a merchant and soon branched out to other activities including lumbering, the Empire Shirt Factory, and founding the first bank in Warrensburg, the Emerson National Bank, now the Glens Falls National Bank.  Louis and James both were active in politics, Louis as a Senator and James as a Representative to the State.  Albert followed in the family tradition as a banker.
